About Me

My name is Rachel McLellan. Most students call me Ms. Rachel! I teach piano and voice out of my home studio in the Windsong neighbourhood of Airdrie, Alberta.

I believe music education should be fun and fulfilling. Students get lessons tailored to their interests, while learning how to read and interpret music. I am passionate about helping singers discover their own voice and sound. My goal for my students is that they go forwards in their lives with a love of music, no matter their future goals.

In addition to teaching, I am also a performer as a Western classical soprano, singing both opera and concert works.

I graduated from the University of Western Ontario in London with a Master’s of Music in Performance and Literature (voice). I also have a Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance with distinction from the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the Alberta Registered Music Teachers' Association (ARMTA), part of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Association (CFMTA).

I would like to acknowledge that the land I live and teach on is part of the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and Ktunaxa people, as well as the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikuni, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, including Chiniki, Bearpaw, and Wesley First Nations. This area is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
